COMFORT Consortium Showcases Expertise at RSNA 2025 in Chicago

The COMFORT consortium was prominently represented at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting 2025, held from 30 November to 4 December in Chicago. As one of the world’s most influential conferences in radiology and medical imaging, RSNA brings together thousands of researchers, clinicians, innovators, and policymakers. This year’s theme, “Imaging the Individual”, emphasized precision medicine, data-driven diagnostics, and the responsible integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into clinical workflows—key areas that align closely with COMFORT’s mission.

Despite challenging winter conditions surrounding the conference’s opening days, RSNA 2025 offered a dense scientific program and an inspiring environment for international exchange. For COMFORT, the meeting provided an ideal platform to present ongoing research, contribute to discussions on trustworthy AI, and strengthen connections with the global radiology community.

COMFORT Contributions to the RSNA Scientific Program

Three members of the COMFORT consortium contributed to the RSNA program with presentations reflecting different aspects of AI in radiology:

Felix Busch presented the paper: “AI regulation in healthcare around the world: what is the status quo?”

Lisa Adams presented: “GenAI in Radiology Explained”

Keno Bressem (COMFORT Coordinator) presented: “How to Use LLMs: Prompting Hacks for Research and Clinic”

Together, these contributions demonstrated the consortium's active engagement in current discussions on artificial intelligence, regulation, and digital innovation in medical imaging.

Scientific Trends Reflect COMFORT’s Mission

Throughout the RSNA program, several themes closely aligned with COMFORT’s objectives:

  • Generative AI and workflow support in radiology
  • AI-assisted image reconstruction and accelerated imaging
  • Data-driven risk stratification and opportunistic imaging
  • Sustainability and responsible technological innovation

The strong focus on explainability, safety, and trustworthiness across many sessions directly resonates with the goals of COMFORT and underscores the relevance of the project’s work within the international radiology community.
