COMFORT contributes to AI4LUNGS Synergy Meeting
On the 21st October 2026, COMFORT joined the AI4LUNGS Synergy Meeting, bringing together representatives from several European projects working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, healthcare and clinical research.
The meeting opened with an overview of the participating projects, including AI4LUNGS, COMFORT, CoMPaSS-NMD, dAIbetes, Microb-AI-ome, TOLIFE, MultiPulm, SPACETIME and LUCIA. This provided an opportunity for the projects to introduce their research and identify shared areas of interest.
As part of the session on new AI models in healthcare, COMFORT presented two contributions highlighting the project’s work in AI-supported cancer care:
- Renal mass segmentation and diagnosis within the COMFORT pipeline, presented by Hartmut Häntze from Charité.
- Prostate tumour characterisation within the COMFORT pipeline, presented by Anirudh Balaraman from Charité.
The presentations illustrated how COMFORT is developing AI models to support the analysis and clinical assessment of prostate and kidney cancer. Alongside contributions from the other projects, the meeting encouraged knowledge exchange on emerging AI models, digital health solutions and their potential application in clinical settings. The programme concluded with a session focusing on system evaluation and testing in clinical environments, followed by closing remarks from the AI4LUNGS team.
The synergy meeting strengthened connections between European research projects and highlighted the value of collaboration in advancing trustworthy, clinically relevant AI solutions for healthcare.
