University of Salerno

The University of Salerno is the site of one of the first schools of medicine in Italy and Europe, a tradition that is currently embodied in the Department of Medicine, Surgery, and Dentistry "Scuola Medica Salernitana". Its clinical activities are performed within the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi D’Aragona University Hospital, which has a known expertise in urological pathologies. The University can also benefit from its multidisciplinary nature, with the participation in numerous projects at a national and international level based on the collaboration between renowned experts in the fields of computer science, engineering, and medicine.

Role within COMFORT

The University of Salerno's Department of Medicine, Surgery, and Dentistry will contribute to several aspects of the COMFORT project. In particular, its researchers will be involved in the process of collecting and preparing the clinical data for the validation of the diagnostic models, as well as their clinical integration within the radiology department workflow. Furthermore, they will also contribute to the assessment of the trustworthiness and interpretability of the artificial intelligence software developed during COMFORT.
