Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS is part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, one of the world’s leading applied research organization based in Germany. The mission of Fraunhofer MEVIS is to advance health care by researching and bringing to market solutions for digital medicine, bridging between integrated diagnostics, intelligent interventions, multimodal imaging, and healthcare informatics. Embedded in a worldwide network of clinical and academic partners, Fraunhofer MEVIS develops real-world software solutions for image and data supported early detection, diagnosis, and therapy. Strong focus is placed on cancer as well as diseases of the circulatory system, brain, breast, liver, and lung. The goal is to detect diseases earlier and more reliably, tailor treatments to each individual, and make therapeutic success more measurable.

Fraunhofer MEVIS is experienced in the quality-assured development of software components for clinical studies and medical devices and has established a respective quality management system, which enables the institute to provide market-ready solutions for commercial partners in the strongly regulated medical device market.

Role within COMFORT

Within the COMFORT project, Fraunhofer MEVIS will support the research partner to sustainably transfer research results into solutions available on the market. With their expertise in medical device regulations, Fraunhofer MEVIS is involved in the quality management activities concerning the implementation of solutions and will in particular monitor the model development to ensure that the developed solutions comply with the standards of the Medical Device Regulation.
